The nasal passages are numbed with an anesthetic spray. A small flexible telescope is inserted into one of the nostrils, passed to the back of the nose and down into the throat. This provides an excellent view of the voice box and vocal cords. This procedure is very well tolerated by the patient sitting in an office exam chair.
