Endoscopic Sinus Surgery
Sphenoidotomy with Removal of Thick Mucous

The anterior and posterior ethmoid cells have been dissected to allow access to the face of the sphenoid sinus.  Using the image guidance suction tip, a sphenoidotomy is created adjacent to the cut edge of the superior turbinate, which had polypoid degeneration.  The sphenoidotomy is enlarged with a straight suction mushroom punch.  Thick mucoid debris is suctioned from the sphenoid sinus.  Following removal of the debris, the sphenoid sinus is irrigated with sterile saline solution.
